Job Description
Position Overview:
Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Consumer Communications, the Communications Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the development and execution of all Canadian communications initiatives. The ideal candidate has a strong passion for media relations and the fashion/apparel industry, and strong editorial relationships, with an outgoing, results-driven attitude.
What you will do in this role:
Compile and distribute company and industry news on daily/weekly basis
Assist in the development of communications strategies and execution of plans – internal and external
Develop pitches, key messages and quotes
Develop and maintain strong relationships with media and influencers across a variety of industries
Proactively pitch stories ideas to media and respond in timely manner to inbound media requests, including event media registrations
Create and maintain updated press materials (media kit, press releases, presentations, fact sheets, etc.)
Support the planning, organization and execution of events – press, sponsorship and internal as needed
Develop and track editorial calendar and awards programs
Proactively and consistently contribute new story angles and pitch ideas
Coordinate communications/PR product orders and shipments
Manage PR sample pool for Canada
Coordinate PR sample distribution and oversee sample tracking
Support needs of regional PR agencies including compiling coverage reports and tracking analysis
Maintain updated Canada Goose press page
Participation in marketing team brainstorms
Ongoing development and maintenance of media database
What we are looking for from you:
Minimum 2 years of experience in publicity, media relations or communications related position, bonus points for agency experience
University degree or college diploma in communications, PR, journalism or related field
Deep understanding of Canadian media landscape
Proven track record of delivering strong media results
Strong creative writing skills with a keen attention to detail
Understanding and appreciation for outdoor and fashion apparel industries
Natural connector who works well with others internally and externally
Strong organization, multi tasking and problem solving skills
Demonstrated strength in time management and project management
Strong computer skills, especially MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience and interest in social media channels (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.)
Working Conditions:
Office environment
Travel as needed for event support; less than 5% expected annually
