The following student position is a part of IBM Canada's EPIC (Employment Pathways to Interns & Co-ops) Student Program. This position is only open to students registered in a Canadian University or college program, who have completed a minimum of 2 years of their degree or diploma program, and who must be returning to full-time study upon the completion of the temporary IBM work term. 

IBM seeks to hire a Java/JavaScript/HTML Software Developer- Intern. The Rational Software Architect (RSA) team is looking for a candidate to join the effort to build the next evolution of the RSA at the IBM Canada Software Lab based in Markham, Ontario. This team is responsible for light weight design paradigm in an evolving environment on IBM Bluemix that enables software practitioners to design their application on IBM Bluemix in a live collaboration mode. The developers will also be responsible for implementing various improvements in the current desktop offering of RSA.

The candidate will have an exciting opportunity to gain professional software development experience in Java, Web & Eclipse, learn and apply agile software development techniques, and work with teams across the globe. This student position resides in Markham and is a 12 to 16 month work term commencing September 2015.

Required Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and test Eclipse-based software application development tools using Java, Eclipse & web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML5 & CSS3
  • Participation in agile software development processes and techniques
  • Interaction and teaming with other software developers and testers around the globe

Must skills:

  • Core Java programming skills
  • Javascript, HTML5, CSS3

Preferred Skills

  • Eclipse (Plugin-development) 
  • Knowledge of JavaScript frameworks like Angular.js /React.js 
  • Object-oriented design and programming 
  • Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills 
  • Problem determination/debug skills 
  • Experience with Windows, Linux & Mac platforms 
  • Coop or internship program enrollment an asset
