Early Career

Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • Grade 12 education or GED - Agricultural background is an asset
  • Valid 3rd Class Steam Ticket or working towards a 3rd Class Ticket
  • Competent mechanical aptitude
  • Proficient computer/ keyboard skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both oral and written
  • Able to lift consistently up to 22.7 kg
  • Must be able to work from heights and in confined spaces
  • Must have medical clearance to wear company supplied respirators/SCBA
  • Prior experience in a process environment considered an asset
  • Flexibility to work overtime based on facility demands

Job Description:


The Summer Relief Boiler Operator is responsible for the efficient operation of the boilers, utilities, fire protection system and deodorization process, producing a food safe and quality product at required production levels. Additional responsibilities include the checking of seals on tank cars and trucks, maintaining a clean work environment and adherence to all safety rules and regulations. The boiler operator works closely with all production areas.

Essential Functions:

  • Efficiently operate the deodorizer process, maintaining process conditions on equipment to ensure the processing of products to food safe and quality specifications
  • Proficient operation of the facility power boilers
  • Efficient operation of the facility utility services including plant air, instrument air, nitrogen production, water treatment plant, emergency generator and fire protection systems
  • Verify seals on tank cars and trucks
  • Log process, formulation, and load-out information
  • Assist in the offload of chemical products at the Refinery
  • Perform any other related duties as required
