Paradox Access Solutions is seeking an IT Manager - as the leader of our in-house IT team in Acheson, Alberta!

Since 2004, Paradox has been providing industrial access matting solutions and ground reinforcement for the pipeline, utility, municipal, general construction, and energy sectors.

What You’ll Do at Paradox:

The IT manager is responsible for the management, strategy, and execution of IT infrastructure for Paradox/Stratum. The IT manager reports directly to the CFO and is responsible for planning, directing, managing, and overseeing the IT department including all activities and operations, control of the IT budget, staff, and facilities. This position will oversee all technology operations and evaluate them according to established goals.

Responsible to establish IT policies and systems to support the implementation of strategies set by upper management.
Manage and oversee an effective cybersecurity program that protects against threats, propels transformation, and drives growth.
Analyzing the business requirements of all departments to determine their technology needs.
Purchase efficient and cost-effective technological equipment and software.
Lead and coordinate selection, installation, operation, support, and maintenance of our information technology infrastructure (i.e. operating systems, networks, telecommunications, hardware, and peripherals).
Inspect the use of technological equipment and software to ensure functionality and efficiency.
Identify the needs for upgrades, configurations or new systems and report to the CFO.
Define the level of IT resources required to achieve goals and priorities and schedule major projects.
Protect the company and its operations against IT risks, including unauthorized access to information, data integrity problems, loss of processing capability, and poor service levels.
Control budget and report on expenditure.
Assist in building relationships with vendors and creating cost-efficient contracts.
Ensure strategic overview of IT issues by keeping up to date with the latest news and trends.
Direct, manage and be accountable for staff within the IT department including mentoring and career development.
Ability to manage multiple IT disciplines such as software development and technical support, and a broad knowledge of systems, applications, and operating systems.
Ensure availability of necessary application systems to support business and operation needs.
Other duties may be assigned as required.

What You’ll Bring to Paradox:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Degree/Diploma in computer science, engineering or relevant field will be considered an asset.
5 + years previous experience leading and developing a team of IT professionals.
5 + years experience as an IT manager or similar role.
5 - 8 + years experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications.
Verifiable track record of effective leadership which includes strong strategic thinking and successful execution with technical and intellectual resources.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Ability to establish immediate credibility at all levels, inside and outside the organization.
Understanding of and experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle.
Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks, etc.
Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
Experience in controlling an information technology budget.
Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
Outstanding communication abilities including negotiating with and managing third party service providers.
