Roger works as a Loss Prevention Coordinator at one of our Distribution Centres, where he is responsible for supporting all of our Loss Prevention programs. He conducts audits and helps maintain our asset-protection and life-safety programs.

Of course, he also runs a weekly contest to see who can hold their breath the longest.

Still, this is Roger. He is one of us.

Now, if you were to come on board as a Loss Prevention Coordinator at one of our Distribution Centres, we'd ask you to do the following:

  • Assign Security Officers and Loss Prevention Associates their daily areas of responsibility
  • Assist DCLP Management in building effective teams through the development and support of the LPAs
  • Liaise with DC and Home Office Associates to promote LP programs and to maintain asset-protection standards for the facilities
  • Liaise with Store, Supply Chain, and Field LP Management to follow up on any shipping-related issues
  • Support internal investigations as required by the DCLP Internal Investigator or LP Management
  • Coordinate Emergency Response Procedures and support fire-safety rules and regulations
  • Communicate issues and concerns that require immediate resolution to LP/DC Management
  • Complete operational audits and review LPA-completed audits for the purpose of identifying loss and operational compliance
  • Conduct training within LP department, including new hires
  • Facilitate LP orientations for General Warehouse Associate hires
  • Review the goals and updates of the Shrink Committee on a monthly basis with the LPAs

  • You've done enough mental heavy lifting to earn your Law and Security diploma
  • You have two years of experience in Loss Prevention at a distribution centre (or equivalent), which you can use to build a stable and bright future here at TJX Canada
  • You possess general knowledge of LP equipment and their functions (i.e., CCTV, radios, fire-alarm panels, etc.)
  • Your investigation and Interviewing skills include identifying alert signals and obtaining evidence while investigating cases of crime or neglect
  • You have strong conflict-resolution, organizational, interpersonal, active-listening, and verbal- and written-communication skills
  • You can develop effective partnerships with DC Operations and DC Support teams
  • Your project support skills include ensuring correct materials and the accuracy of calculations, conducting and summarizing internal and external surveys, maintaining records, organizing and allocating resources to ensure the efficient coordination of investigations, and initiating action and allocating resources in emergencies
  • You have the communication skills to discuss issues with others for the purposes of clarification or explanation; the writing skills to develop sweep audits, memos, documents, letters, reports, etc.; the oral-presentation skills to conduct Shrink meetings and internal conferences; and the critical skills to answer questions about dishonest activities
  • Your analytical skills include the ability to listen to arguments or evidence, note unusual occurrences, document alert signals, watch an employee or event to detect a problem or see if a dangerous situation occurs, and analyze mechanized reports for unusual occurrences
  • You can coordinate tasks to ensure the appropriate individuals are notified of tasks and timelines
  • You can collect and coordinate information in a timely manner
  • Your computer skills include word processing and the ability to create spreadsheets
  • You are flexible to schedule changes
  • You can pass a detailed background check that may include the following: credit check history, criminal history, and motor vehicle driving history
  • You are licensed under the Private Security and Investigative Services Act
  • You are a person of integrity and possess the highest ethical standards
  • You can keep privileged information strictly confidential
  • Because in some provinces, a provincial security license is required to be employed in this position, you must be currently licensed under the applicable provincial statute and regulation prior to commencement of employment; you must also be able to maintain that license as long as it is legally required
