Summary:
As a Data Center Systems Engineer, you will be providing technical design, implementation, configuration, and support services to our customers. The majority of the work will focus virtualization, server, and storage solutions primarily with products from VMWare, EMC, Nimble, Dell, Veeam and Cisco UCS. If training and certifications for the knowledge ramp-up are required, Softchoice is ready to support and provide the means and materials associated to make this happen. In this engineering capacity you will: help plan and design Data Center Solutions; lead customers on the configuration of their Data Center infrastructures, provide support and knowledge transfer to Customers operations and management teams.
Territory coverage will be for Atlantic Canada to support, maintain, and grow with existing and new client base. Current team is well experienced and established, providing an excellent team and professional atmosphere.
You will also be involved in assisting with migrations of customers. This may be on premises migrations. Migration responsibilities would include communication with the customer, maintaining a migration schedule and validation of data integrity post migration. Work outside of regular business hours may be required for some migration work.
You may also be involved with the Softchoice Keystone team with Softchoice’s Managed Service offering. By utilizing knowledge of the customer environment, you will deliver timely and high quality incident resolution focusing on root cause analysis, prevention, and knowledge transfer. You will effectively manage cases and sub-cases to ensure timely and high quality communication with customers and resolution of all issues. You will develop a relationship with both the customer and technical peers for the technology they support and related technologies in order to ensure improved collaboration and satisfaction in support.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Able to handle customer situations with empathy and ownership
- Excellent organization and communication skills (both written and oral)
- Proven track record in technology consulting, or experience in a solutions delivery capacity
- Practical experience in technology migration projects
- Deep knowledge of some or all of the following: VMWARE – vSphere / View / vSAN, EMC – VNX / VNXe / Data Domain, Nimble, Dell – Compellent / Equallogic, Veeam and Cisco UCS.
- General Networking skills.
- Good understanding of technology components (client, storage, compute, virtualization)
- Technical scripting knowledge to compliment project delivery
- A relevant Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Able to learn technology quickly in a self-directed fashion
