Student employment opportunities
Nexen’s student employment opportunities allow students from various disciplines to gain valuable work experience in a collaborative, supportive culture that focuses on individual growth.
At the same time, we often evaluate our interns, co-op students and summer students for future new graduate opportunities.
These paid work terms last four or eight months and enable students to develop technical skills to complement their academic learning. Students, recruited from both universities and colleges, not only meet Nexen’s short-term needs, but provide a potential source of future full-time employees.
To be eligible for the co-op program, students must be enrolled in a co-op program sponsored by an accredited post-secondary institution.
Typically, we post these employment opportunities three times a year: September, January and May.
Engineering internship program
Nexen offers paid engineering internships that allow students to gain practical experience and develop technical skills through 12- or 16- month work terms. The program also allows Nexen to evaluate students for new graduate opportunities, and for students to determine if Nexen is the employer for them.
To be eligible for this program, students must be enrolled in an internship program sponsored by an accredited post-secondary institution.
Typically, we post these employment opportunities two times a year - in January for a May start date and May for a September start date.
Technical summer students
Nexen’s four-month technical summer student program is aimed at students studying engineering, geosciences, geographic information systems and land disciplines. Students are assigned specific projects which give them practical business and technical experience in their designated field of study. You must be in your second or third year of your program to be eligible to apply.
Typically, we post these employment opportunities in September for May start dates the following year.
Nexen’s four-month summer employment program provides students with paid experience by performing a variety of tasks and projects. We encourage students from all post-secondary disciplines to apply whether your discipline is related to oil and gas or not.
Typically, we post these employment opportunities in January for May start dates.
