Position serves as an Associate Scientist - Specifications within the Canadian Business Unit acting as liaison between RD&Q and Integrated Supply Chain to deliver complete, accurate and timely specifications, with a primary focus on Manufacturing Procedures.
This posting is for (2) new positions supporting the CDN BU providing a unique opportunity to define specification content, format and process flows as an enabler for business maintenance and growth in a highly dynamic and complex operational environment. This position is located in Mount Royal, Quebec however will interface regularly with specification resources in Glenview, Tarrytown, Mount Royal, Ingleside, Don Mills as well as each CDN BU manufacturing facility as assigned.
The Associate Scientist - Specifications will require a thorough working knowledge of the Interspec (Meridian) application, specification commercialization and approval process as well as good understanding of Product and/or Package manufacturing processes. Experience within the integrated supply chain supporting project management, application of Six Sigma tools and first hand implementation of specification content will be valued. Primary responsibilities will focus on the setting and achieving the milestones and goals within the Manufacturing Procedures Improvement Project (MPIP) initiative.
Supporting R&D with the creation and maintenance of manufacturing procedures.
Ensuring specifications include consumer driven Critical to 'X' (Food Safety, Regulatory, Quality) criteria, with instructions that are transferrable, accurate and achievable.
Ensuring data accuracy across Interspec, MDM (Master Data Management) and business enterprise systems such as SAP and Quality Suite.
Creating, adapting and managing all material, product, and package specifications through coordination with R&D process, product and packaging developers, regulatory, micro, procurement, master data, continuous improvement, suppliers, co-manufacturers and Integrated Supply Chain resources.
Align with assigned business category , R&D and ISC resources maintaining requisite business processes to deliver right first time specifications for each commercialization
BS or MS in a technical field (Food Science, Packaging, Chemical Sciences, Biology or Equivalent)
Minimum of 1 - 3 years' experience in RD&Q
Thorough comprehension of Interspec and commercialization processes
Strong understanding and experience in product/package development process, food safety, plant commercialization's, and vendor relations
Excellent Verbal and Written Communication
Self-Motivator as a team leader / team player
Ability to handle multiple complex assignments concurrently
Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships and network within the KFG enterprise (influencing without authority)
Computer skills proficiency preferred for: Interspec, SAP, Quality Suite, Excel, Word, and Power Point experience preferred
Bilingual in French and English preferred due to position based in Mount Royal
Green Belt certification and experience applying six sigma tools preferred
Experience working across multiple categories or business units preferred
Up to 30% travel
