The following student position is a part of IBM Canada's EPIC (Employment Pathways to Interns & Co-ops) Student Program. This position is only open to students registered in a Canadian University or College program, who have completed a minimum of 2 years of their degree or diploma program, and who must be returning to full-time study upon the completion of the temporary IBM work term.

This Student Position resides in Ottawa and is a 4 month work term commencing September 2015.

Main Responsibilities for J9 Virtual Machine (JVM) Tooling Developer include:

  • Developing Eclipse-based tooling to support multi-platform development
  • Improving our state-of-the-art automated scheduling and deployment system for JVM development
  • Designing innovative User Interfaces (UI) for reporting performance data and project health metrics
  • Extending Eclipse-based to support J9 development

Desired Qualifications required:

  • Understanding of database concepts, and programming language implementation concepts
  • Practical knowledge of Java, PHP, and Ruby
  • Experience developing applications using Eclipse or a similar Integrated Development Environment (IDE)
  • Experience with JSP, Ruby On Rails, and JavaScript would be assets
  • Experience with Web application development in Java
  • Experience debugging complex systems spanning multiple languages
  • Coop or internship program enrollment an asset
